Hunters in West Virginia harvested 2,385 black bears in 2014 during the combined archery and firearms seasons, according to Colin Carpenter, Black Bear Project Leader for WV DNR. The data collected from the 2014 harvest marks the fifth time in five years that the harvest has topped 2,000 bears and was tied for the third highest harvest on record.
